Action can cure many things. Taking action can enable you to overcome fear. Taking action can bring higher self-esteem. But, too often we put off taking action. What’s the secret to taking action and doing it consistently?
Jim Rohn believed that engaging in genuine discipline requires that you develop the ability to take action.
The Time For Action
When you see that you need to take action you don’t need to be in a hurry if it isn’t required. In fact, if you are always in a hurry you may need to check on how you are choosing to run your business and your life. Non-stop action will lead to burnout.
On the other hand you don’t want to put off taking action and lose much time either. All of us have twenty-four hours in a day. It is a fixed amount allotted to each one of us. What action we take in our twenty-four hours is up to us.
When is the best time to act? Take action when the idea is hot and the emotion is strong. That is the best time.
Action And Natural Law
If you don’t engage in genuine discipline to take action you will suffer from the law of diminishing intent. As a personal growth coach I have observed not only in myself, but in my clients who are self-employed business owners, entrepreneurs, solo professionals, corporate professionals and individuals the negative effects of the law of diminishing intent.
We intend to take action when the idea strikes us. We intend to something when the emotion is high. But, if we don’t translate that intention into action fairly soon, the urgency starts to diminish.
In running a small business or starting your own business always be aware of the law of diminishing intent. Someday, sometime is not a process success.
Action And Discipline
Take action. As Jim Rohn says, “Set up a discipline when the emotions are high and the idea is strong, clear, and powerful.” If someone talks about how to market their small business and you are excited by it, you need to find a book or do some further research on it.
The key is to begin the process. You must set up the discipline to begin the process of taking action. You’ve got to take action otherwise the motivation is wasted. And the emotion to support your new action soon passes without disciplined activity.
Discipline And Action
Discipline enables you to capture the emotion and education that comes from a new idea and turn it into action. Discipline has great value. Positive action enhances our self-worth, also known as self-esteem.
Self-esteem is linked to discipline and taking action. Interestingly, once we sense the least lack of discipline within ourselves, it starts to erode our self-esteem. Create the discipline to take the action. And your action will take you to the personal and small business success you desire.
